About Nuneaton & Bedworth Citizens Advice Bureau

At Nuneaton & Bedworth Citizens Advice Bureau we can give you free, confidential, impartial and independent general advice and information on a wide range of subjects including welfare benefits, disability issues, debt, consumer matters, employment, housing, relationships, legal issues, health, education and much more.

We also offer a casework service for those with complex welfare benefits issues, including assistance with complicated disability benefits forms, for people with multiple debt problems and those having problems with housing matters including eviction and possesion.

The service is delivered by a team of highly trained volunteer advisers supported by a dedicated number of paid workers, as well as our national organisation - Citizens Advice.

Feedback shows that our service is highly valued by the local community and for many, it is the first port of call for people seeking to resolve their problems.

We are a charitable company limited by guarantee and are managed by a Trustee Board consisting of local people. We are grateful to our major funders, Nuneaton & Bedworth Council, Warwickshire County Council and the Legal Services Commision who provide the finances that enable us to provide the service.

We speak up for change in social policies and from our clients' experiences we can see where services and policies are failing. We call this our social policy work which is 'Campaigning For Change'.

We are a member of the national Citizens Advice service, which provides the extensive information system we use to advise clients, sets standards for the way we operate and supports service development.

We are an accountable and professional organisation that sets high standards with regard to the services we provide. We are subject to regular external audits undertaken by Citizens Advice and the Legal Services Commission.

The bureau holds the Community Legal Services Quality Mark at Specialist Advice level for our debt and welfare benefits work and the General Advice Level for the other categories of advice.

We are also officially recognised as an 'Investor In People' organisation and hold the 'Positive about Disabled People' Charter Mark

We are the largest provider of quality assured advice and information in the Borough and help over 12,000 people to resolve their problems each year.Last year the bureau raised over £800,000 in additional benefits for local people and helped people with a total of over £1.5 million of debt
