Equal Opportunities

Equality is a fundamental principle of our service.

Our Equal Opportunities Policy Statement

Nuneaton & Bedworth CAB is striving towards the provision of equal opportunities in all areas of our work. We are aware that certain sections of the community are disadvantaged through prejudice and discrimination, whether it be on the grounds of race, disability, gender, marital status, age, class, sexual orientation, language, nationality, religion or culture.

We are determined to tackle such prejudice and discrimination by taking positive action to develop equality of opportunity for all our recruitment and employment practices, in our work with other organisations, partners, other service providers and through the services we provide.

Our Aims

The aims of our service are:

to ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities or of the services available to them, or through an inability to express their needs effectively; and

to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.

Principles

The service is independent and provides free, confidential, impartial advice to everyone regardless of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, age or nationality.

In all aspects of our work we recognise the positive value of diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination.

Our Vision

To ensure everyone in our community knows that they can rely on us for a high quality generalist advice service that is accessible and responsive to their needs.

People experiencing discrimination of any type will be able to turn to us as a first local point of contact for discrimination advice.

Our services and campaigns will be equally relevant to and valued by people from white, black and minority ethnic communities.

Our services and campaigns will address the many reasons why individuals or groups may be discriminated against or excluded, for example by poverty, rural isolation, race, ethnicity, disability, mental health, sexual orientation, age, gender, religion and nationality.

Working in partnership with others is key to achieving this vision.
