Casework Services

Our casework services are funded by the Legal Services Commission through the Community Legal Service to assist those on limited income.

The bureau has contracts to provide casework services for complex welfare benefits and housing matters and to assist those with multiple debt problems.

People with complex debt, housing and welfare benefits problems have an initial interview with one of our generalist advisers and, if appropriate are then referred to one of our in-bureau caseworkers.

Our casework resources are limited and is expected that people who are referred to one of our caseworkers will co-operate fully with the caseworker concerned in an effort to resolve their problems.

Caseworker appointments are available in both Nuneaton & Bedworth throughout the week.

Debt Advice

We have caseworkers who are able to help those who find themselves with multiple debt problems by helping to establish the extend of the problem, agree household expenditure and where applicable negotiate with creditors. Advice is also available to those facing court action for debt matters including bankruptcy and insolvency.

Housing

We can provide advice and support to those facing eviction or repossession of their home because of rent or mortgage arrears. In addition to this we can advise on landlord and tenant problems, problems with Housing Benefit, housing disrepair and associated housing issues.

Welfare Benefits

We provide advice, information and support for those with complex welfare benefits problems including applications that have been refused where a review or appeal is appropriate, overpayment of benefit disputes and associated benefit issues.
