Information Resources - Nuneaton & Bedworth CAB

What kind of problems can you help me with?
We hold information on almost all problems people face in their lives. Whatever your problems we are a good first port of call as if we cannot help we will almost certainly know of someone else who can. One of our major strengths is that we take a holistic approach to problem solving as we recognise that one problem can lead to another and each of these needs to be tackled.
Is the information you give accurate and up to date?
Our main information system is updated monthly and is checked by the relevant experts in each field. We hold over 12,000 pages of information providing detailed facts and also hold many reference books. In addition to this every piece of advice given is checked by an experienced Supervisor to ensure you have been given accurate and complete advice.
Why do I have to see an Adviser rather than looking up my own information?
Our information system is designed to be used by trained advisers who will help you find the information you need, explain the options open to you and the implications involved.
Information Technology

We recognise the benefits of Information Technology in the delivery of advice and managing our service. Over the last 5 years we have worked to develop our IT systems and now have an extensive network of computers that help us deliver the service we provide more efficiently.
Some of these improvements include:
Our Electronic Information System (Advisernet)
This is our major information source with over 20,000 pages of information provided by our national association, Citizens Advice. This information resource is unrivalled for its breadth, depth and quality. It is constantly being updated. Our electronic information system is available to advisers in our main offices, interview rooms, at satellite advice points and on laptop computers for home visiting enabling us to bring the CAB service to wherever it is needed.
Our Electronic Case Management System (CASE)
We now record our client enquires electronically and they are securely held on central servers by Citizens Advice and transmitted via an intranet. This helps with checking and supervising the advice that has been given, easier retrieval to client information. This system is being further developed leading to enhanced ways of working including working with our local authorities to provide access to e-government services.
Bureau Management Information System (BMIS)
Developed by Citizens Advice, regularly updated, and used as a resource by bureau managers and trustees. The information contained in BMIS helps to ensure that CABx have up to date information on legislation, policy and practice that is needed to ensure that they are managed successfully and efficiently.
The Internet
We are making increasing use of the internet with use of broadband connections in our offices in Nuneaton & Bedworth that helps communication between our various operating sites. In addition to this offering advice by email and using email as a communication tool has increased dramatically over the last two years and is set to expand further. |
